Brian’s eyes widened as he slowly pulled back from the glass and quietly said, “This wine validates what I have been doing for the last decade.” Having just come from the St. Urban Vineyard with traces of the precious, living soil still on his hands the line could be drawn directly from the smell of the sweet, organic and complex earth to the aroma emerging from the glass. In the glass was pure terroir and years of happy labour in liquid song. Amid the classic lemon-lime zestiness and broad, hardwood tree fruit notes, the base of St. Urban itself was showing….from soil to bottle to glass.
