Field G Riesling
You might be a little dark and brooding as well if you never had the opportunity to feel the wakening warmth of sunrise, nor the evening’s fading kiss of the sun. Field G has a north easterly aspect so it effectively “turns it’s back” to the late day sun plus it is tucked right up against our trees to the east blocking the early morning light. As such, this field within the St. Urban Vineyard is starved a bit of the sun’s warmth and energy leading to vines that are of good age but are still somewhat immature. The fruit from this field reflects this unique place and is not overly expressive and may even seem like it is not a “Vineland wine”. This sheltered life has lead a section of our vineyard to produce a dark and brooding wine, but even this clumsy and immature offering has its role to play in the complexity for which the blended Elevation, St. Urban Riesling is famous.
