There’s a monster in the closet, or at least I hope there is as I am thirsty for a substantial red. The closet holds the wine rack and the “monster” on the rack is the massive 2017 Cabernet Merlot. Still, it is a gentle monster loaded with plush field berry notes, tart cherry, split cedar
and worn leather. It simply fills your senses. On the palate it is round, rich and mouth-watering, yet there is an exquisite seam of acidity that keeps the multitude of flavours focussed and fresh. The tannins are firm and fully matured giving the wine the shoulders to carry such a bounty of
fruit. This is the monster of your dreams and not the cliché childhood fear.
